What Are Rate Limits and Quotas?
Rate limits serve your personal protection: they prevent accidental API misuse from leading to uncontrolled costs. They also protect the infrastructure and ensure fair resource allocation.

- Base limits: for PoCs and smaller projects, no commitment required
- Increased limits: with commitment, scalable on demand
If you hit a limit, that’s not an error, it’s the protective mechanism doing its job. For higher limits, just talk to your contact person at noris.
Quotas on AI points
Section titled “Quotas on AI points”RPM and TPM cap the load. To cap consumption, and therefore cost, quotas can additionally be set at the level of AI points:
- per virtual key, for example to cap individual applications or teams separately
- per customer, as an overall limit across all virtual keys
